Best Value - Well made September 29, 2005 Joe 50 out of 50 found this review helpful
The quality is amazing. Easy to use, easy to clean. This was my first Processor and I'm hooked. I use it almost every day and it's so small (or "compact") that it takes up very little counter-top space.
For the price, it's a great value. The only drawback is that I love it so much, I'm already thinking about buying one of Cuisinart's larger models that does even more stuff.
It comes with the one multipurpose blade (which does just about everything) and a separate slicing and shredding blade. The slicing and shredding blades work O.K. but not as great as on larger models I've seen - so I use the multi-purpose blade 90% percent of the time.
I wish they sold additional blades for this model but I haven't seen them. (That would probably take away from sales of the bigger models).
But I still love it. And give it my highest rating.
The Neatest Little Machine Ever August 7, 2006 W. Wells (Southern Illinois) 41 out of 41 found this review helpful
The bowl and drive-post sleeve of my 26-year-old Cuisinart food processor have finally developed cracks so I started looking for a new one. Since I no longer need a full-size processor, I decided to try the DFP-3 Handy Prep. It arrived just a few days after my order was placed with Amazon and I am delighted with it. It's sturdy, heavy base fits into a small space on the countertop and it chops and shreds as efficiently as the full-size machine for a fraction of the price. I love it.
as good as the original March 6, 2008 J. Janssen (San Diego, CA USA) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this mini food processor to replace a 25 year old "Cuisinart Pro" that gave up the ghost after some serious use. While, I don't know if this one will last another 25 years it does look like a smaller version of my original. The design and manufacturing seems identical and the results are the same regardless of capacity. If I remember correctly the "Pro" cost over $200; more than four times the current price of the smaller model.
I just want to add a note of advice to would be buyers of this appliance or any other food processor....What these things do well is puree ingredients into sauce bases, tapenades, soups, salsas and the like. Don't buy one expecting to throw away the paring or chef knives. If you are preparing large quantities of sliced vegetables you're better off with a mandolin or a good set of knives. I've always found the attachments to be generally more trouble than they're worth. But for a small preparation of the aforementioned foods, I don't think you can beat the Cusinart Handy Prep.
Fresh Salsa October 9, 2004 Budding Chef (Florida) 23 out of 23 found this review helpful
I got this Cuisinart processor for $29.95 plus free shipping last week here on Amazon.com. I just have to say, it is wonderful! My husband and I love homemade fresh salsa and with this machine we have it in seconds. Just a few quick pulses and you're there. Chops garlic very well. Easy clean up (top rack of dishwasher) and it isn't too bulky to store on the counter. I see myself using this machine often !!
Not too Big, Not too Small, Just Right January 8, 2008 C. Fuehr (California) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Cuisinart DFP-3 Handy Prep 3-Cup Food Processor My husband is a chef and had this from college (20 years ago) when it finally broke we could not find a replacement. All were 7 or 11 cup or mini's. We tried them and they are fine for large jobs or "mini" jobs but this 3 cup is perfect for EVERYTHING dinner for 2 requires. I should know. I've had about 200 dinner's per year for 15 years made for me by a chef and most involved something made with this little guy. From Pesto, to various tapenade's to puree'd spaghetti sauce and so so much more, this little baby is perfect. We were so happy to find it here on line as it is pretty much impossible to find in stores anymore.
